Floral Arranging Class
Alicia and Adam Rico, Owners, Bows and Arrows
Learn new techniques and trends in floral arrangements! Students will work hands-on with their own sets of flowers to create a bouquet to keep. Class fee includes complimentary museum admission, cut flowers, vases, floral tip sheets and oral step-by-step instructions on how to recognize the freshest flowers, how to care for them and how to create a beautiful flower arrangement. Space is limited to 25 people, advance registration is required. $95; $75 for Museum members.

Designing Like an Artist
W. Gary Smith, Landscape Designer & Principal, W. Gary Smith Design
Enjoy afternoon tea, including a selection of finger sandwiches and pastries, with one of North America's leading landscape designers, W. Gary Smith. Smith specializes in botanical gardens and arboretums, as well as public art installations and private gardens. Integrating painting and other art forms into his design process, his end results are considered “art-form gardens.” He received the Award of Distinction from the Association of Professional Landscape Designers for his work on Enchanted Woods at Winterthur in Delaware, Peirce's Woods at Longwood Gardens, and the Stopford Family Meadow Maze in Pennsylvania. Following the tea, Smith will be available to sign his recent book From Art to Landscape: Unleashing Creativity in Garden Design, which received the “Garden Book of the Year” award from the American Horticultural Society in 2011. Space is limited to 60 people, advance registration is required. $45; $35 for Museum members.

Learn the secrets of attracting more wild birds and beautiful butterflies to your backyard. Birds and butterflies are an extension of landscape and provide a variety of interest and beauty. By planting host and nectar plants for the butterflies and providing food and shelter for our feathered friends, our gardens will come to life. Space is limited to 112 people, advance registration is required. $25; $15 for Museum members.
